Potato

The potato is one of the favourite vegetables of the French. Several varieties exist and each one is intended for a particular use. This starchy food is eaten exclusively cooked and can be adapted to all types of cooking. The potato can be incorporated into many recipes: mashed, steamed, au gratin, fried, etc. The potato has become an essential part of our daily diet and is also a real source of energy and vitamins.

The potato generally comes in random shapes depending on the variety. The colour of the pulp varies between pale yellow, purple and pink.
More than 150 varieties of potatoes are listed in France, and are distinguished by the texture of their flesh or their culinary use.
